Leadership from the Trenches, Not the Sidelines
I'm Chris Donnelly, and my entire career has been defined by one thing: stripping away the noise and getting to the heart of every business decision.
I took the reins of a family business, scaled it into a market leader, and navigated a successful exit. I know what it means to inherit a company’s history and have to navigate its future. I know the weight of decisions that affect people whose trust is still being earned. And I know the moment of realization that what got me here isn’t going to get me there.
I formed my whole approach out of what I learned in the trenches of managing a business lifecycle. I recognized my own ability to break down the complexities of decision-making processes and identify blind spots that restrict growth. This keen insight allows me to support fellow business owners who are feeling the pressure to scale up but fearing the risks of their next move.
Today I’m an executive coach, a Vistage Chair, and a speaker for business audiences. I work with founders, buyers, and second-generation owners who are making the shift from running a business to leading one. The shift is formidable, and it requires more than a new mindset. It requires an ally who knows what questions will motivate leaders to break through to the next level.
If you’re on the threshold of something big, I want to help you push beyond every limit.
What Chris does remarkably well is take 15 minutes of your most fragmented thoughts and hand them back to you with clarity and precision. It almost feels like a magic trick.
He’s honest, open, and authentic, yet never arrogant. There’s a humility about him that comes from having navigated his own opportunities, and that combination creates an immediate sense of trust.
I’ve come to rely on him the same way you’d rely on a trusted family doctor: someone who understands the whole picture, not just the issue sitting in front of them at the moment.

I’ll be honest, I was worried at first about drinking the Kool-Aid. But Chris turned out to be a tremendous paid consultant who challenges me to operate at my highest level. He’s there for me in a way that friends — with all their own preoccupations — simply can’t be.
He sold his own company without a banker, on his own terms. That lived experience gives him credibility that most coaches can only theorize about.
